Mrs. Tonya Buttrey, a Kentucky native, graduated valedictorian of Wolfe County High School and Cum Laude at Morehead State University with a degree in Biology and Chemistry.
Through her many travels with her husband and children, Tonya brings an uncanny knowledge of geography and culture into her classroom. Her enthusiasm of learning is infectious and children strive for goals they never thought they could obtain. She is able to balance high standards and good work ethics with building self-esteem and character.
She is a certified Orton-Gillingham tutor and a member of the International Dyslexia Association. She has been trained by Susan Barton to test for and diagnose dyslexia. Her experience with tutoring includes the Barton Reading and Spelling System, the Phonological Awareness Skills Program, the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing (LiPS) Program, Handwriting Without Tears, as well as many others.
In addition to dyslexia training, she has also attended workshops and seminars related to ADD/ADHD, Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and Classroom Accommodations.
Tonya has been employed at Clark County Christian for four years and finds great rewards in teaching. God has truly called her to this field and has blessed CCCS with her abilities. Mrs. Buttrey attends Winchester First Church of God with Bill, her husband of 15 years, and their two children. Kaitlyn and Logan currently attend CCCS. To contact Tonya Buttrey click here.
